Emilio's Terrace Current Vintage

2003 Emilio's Terrace Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve
is an intense wine with deep aromas and flavors of rich berries, and hints of vanilla and violets. The wine has great structure is very well balanced yet surprisingly supple in its texture. The fruit shows well now and will improve with bottle aging. It is elegant and has great charm. The 2003 is from our 4.5 acre l00% organic hillside vineyard in Oakville that rises above Robert Mondavi's famous To-Kolan vineyard.

This wine is l00% Cabernet Sauvignon that combines the fruit from the top of our vineyard that was picked 22 days prior to the fruit that was picked from the bottom. This "Top/Bottom Blend" is a wonderful example of the power and uniqueness of our hillside vineyard still showing the classic Oakville terroir character. The wine was aged in French Oak (95%) and American Oak (5%) for 23 months prior to bottling in August 2005.

We made 657 cases of this vintage: 645 cases of 750mL bottles and 12 cases of 1.5L magnums. The 375mL half-bottle format is no longer offered. To read what others are saying about our 2003 vintage, click here.

Harvest Information:
Picked: September 24, 2003 and October 16, 2003. Because of the different ripening process between the upper and lower parts of our hillside vineyard, we harvested each elevation at its peak of maturation.
Brix: 24.8 and 26.5; TA: 0.55 and 0.46; pH: 3.67 and 3.81; Alcohol: 14.3%
